Mikis Theodorakis Symphony Orchestra was founded in 2020 in Corfu with the consent of Mikis Theodorakis and the signature of Ilias Gkogkidis. It is composed of students of high music schools, and professional musicians from all over Greece, having as its creative axis the vision for art and culture.

The orchestra has performed repeatedly in concert halls of Corfu (Municipal Theatre, Ionian Academy, Old Fortress, St. George’s Church), but also abroad, with two tours in Serbia (Belgrade, National Theatre Novi Sad, Stara Pazova, Kladovo). In her history, she has performed a total of 20 concerts with works by M. Theodorakis, S. Kouyoumtzi, Th. Polycratus, L.V.Beethoven, C.A.Bixio, E.Curtis, S.Gastaldon, Z.Katris, A.Lara, G.Puccini, and TV shootings with Christoforos Papakaliatis.

In its educational purpose, M.T.S.O organizes music seminars, and at the same time, highlighting its social role, undertaking all kinds of humanitarian events. Since its foundation, the Symphony Orchestra has been conducted by Ilias Gkogkidis.
